Otro Tablero
Solo exhibition of works by Claudia Kaatziza Cortínez at 575 Madison gallery, curated by Matthew López-Jensen. On view through December 31st, 2023. Otro Tablero, which translates roughly to 'the other game-board', invokes an act of finding, rearranging, and capturing fragments within the city grid. Through various forms of analogue photography and printmaking, Claudia Kaatziza Cortínez’s exhibition celebrates these architectural moments and brings them into focus.

Upcoming performance at Center for Book Arts: LAZO Collective, in collaboration with Mana Bugallo, will be performing Letters of a Compass at Benefit With Friends. May 13th, 2022, 8-11pm

On this occasion, LAZO will present an installation of projected images and textures, both analog and digital, activated by Mana Bugallo, an Argentine NYC-based poet, performer, singer and activist. Mana's performances combine elements of spoken word and lyrical performative experimentation, blending poetry and music into narrative fragments that recall childhood memories, sexuality, and humorings on everyday life.

Aquello curated by Dilalica at Instituto Cervantes New York opening this Thursday, Feb 17th at 7pm.

Letters of a Compass, an exhibition and performance series in collaboration with my collective LAZO, opens this Thursday from 5-8pm at the Abrazo Interno Gallery at The Clemente.

Letters of Compass invites participants to create new ways of engaging collectively, and rethink both contemporary and historic forms of communication and image-making. Visitors can experience an array of textures generated through printing methods that abstract and only come into full resolution in the postcard-sized photographs. The installation and performances address imposed practices of separation that are prevalent in our current times by creating a space for artists to propose new centers and directions. The poetics of image and word, the earth and the compass, are offerings LAZO's artists and their collaborators give us to navigate this moment of tempests.

Black Spirits poetry reading series at Center for Book Arts. I designed and printed a broadside featuring the poem “Born to Slow Horses” by iconic Barbadian poet Kamau Brathwaite the same week the country officially became an independent republic - finally severing colonial ties with Britain. I will be speaking about my process and inspiration this evening - Thursday, December 2nd, as part of the reading series.

Oct. 27, 6:30pm - 8pm at Center For Book Arts is the reading & launching of ‘Between The Lines’ Poetry reading and print launch.

I produced Past Self, a broadside made in collaboration with Scott Munro, as a variable edition of 100 hand-toned cyanotypes.
Between the Lines is a one-night reading and print launch event that presents six poetry and print collaborations between NYC-based artists and incarcerated artists/writers in Florida and Texas, curated by Rowan Renee. Each collaboration explores the printed multiple as a powerful vehicle to build relationships and dialogue across prison walls. Through combining text and visual language, this reading amplifies the lived experience of incarcerated people and celebrates the resilience of the creative spirit.

Organized with my collective LAZO, the group exhibition Sobre/Mesa is centered around a collaborative mail art project and a collection of images transformed through a photocopier, where disparate dining spaces are physically brought together through the tactile process of collage.

On view at The Clemente March 4th- April 2nd, 2021

Excited to announce my collective LAZO's Interdisciplinary Arts and Curatorial Residency at The Clemente, where we will be in residence for the duration of 2021-2022.
